DESCRIPTION
Ohio Valley Conservation Coalition is an IRS recognized 501c3 non-profit Land Conservation Trust established in 2010. We engage in the protection and restoration of natural areas, wetlands, and riparian corridors (streams), through the purchase of properties or conservation easements. We do this by obtaining grant funds to purchase land in fee, or easements on lands. Those granting entities then require the compliance of the grant application as to the use (or restriction of use) of the land along with the recording of their specific deed restrictions. Due to the nature of what OVCC does, those acquired lands may be eligible for amnesty from property tax assessments. Because of this, we try to again put more back into the community than what we are taking out through helping local governments secure grant funding to help with economic or infrastructure projects, as well as other local organizations for the good of the community. Education is also a priority of the OVCC’s community involvement. We try to be “good partners” whenever we have the opportunity. OVCC also promotes responsible hunting, youth and handicapped outdoor sports, along with partnerships between the hunting and environmental communities.
